November Pastor Column

Hi Everyone and Happy November!

It seems like time is flying by. Just to think that it has already been four months since we bought a house in Covington so that we could be here among you and with you–making your community, our community, what matters to you, matter to us, and being willing to be totally committed to the work that God is calling us to, together, at Cornerstone, in the Covington area and beyond. I have truly enjoyed our first four months together and am looking forward to our first Advent/Christmas Seasons together.

As we move through the month of November, the leadership team will be working to prepare us for our Annual All Church Meeting regarding Charge Conference on Saturday, December 11th at 11am on Zoom. As we come together for that meeting, to discuss the last year and make decisions regarding leadership, finances and other church business for the coming year we will have the opportunity to reflect on God’s incredible faithfulness to us. This has certainly been an unusual year filled with unexpected twists and turns, but as we consider all that we have been through we will see two things for sure, that God has helped us to adapt to changing times, through our willingness to make some drastic changes that we have been able to stay connected to Him and one another, and that He will never fail us, but continuously lead us and guide us in right paths for His name’s sake. I want to thank everyone for stepping out in faith to make these changes and adapt to the new times we are in. Thank you for all that you have done to keep the faith and stay on the journey with God with us. I also want to give a great big thank you to the leadership team and  everyone who has helped us to expand the church’s online presence, and for the ways that you have helped us to continue to offer safe opportunities to build our lives upon Jesus. Our Teams have been awesome. Believe Team, you have helped us to gather safely through drive up worship, outdoor worship on the lawn and now back in the building; and the leaders of our Connect, Share and Serve ministries have all done an amazing job. Thank you!  We appreciate you so much for the ways that you have and continue to serve us. So many have done incredible things in response to our changing needs, even showing up to participate in our community of faith on Sundays or throughout the week is an act of faith and commitment; so I just want to say thank you for not giving up on Christ, or our fellowship and our ministry. To God be the glory; and truly  “eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them that love him.” Isaiah 64:4 To learn more about all that has happened during the past year with the church’s ministry and more, mark your calendars for our All Church Charge Conference meeting on Saturday, December 11th at 11am.and I’ll meet you there on Zoom. Zoom information will be out in advance through the Church Office.

If you attended our Ministry Fair service back in September, you will know that we have many places for you to serve within the church and we need you to make this wonderful work that we are doing as God’s Church to happen as only we can. Maybe you didn’t know, but God has gifted each of us uniquely; and with your help, we can do all that God is calling us to do. Are you grounded in God’s word,\ and feel called to teach or facilitate a Bible Study? Let us know. Can you help out with coordinating events? There is a place for you. Do you have compassion for others, we can connect you with the right ministry. Do you have administrative gifts? There is always a need for this. Let us know that you will help. Do you love praying and interceding for others? There are growing opportunities for what we can do together in prayer. Would you be willing to help us to get more small groups going, or lead a small group for fellowship and study or accountability and devotions? Please don’t hesitate to let us know. If you can cook or if some other way of serving is your passion, there are definitely opportunities for you to serve. Whether it is in the area of helping us to Believe, Connect with others, Share or Serve, there is a place for you. Please contact me at or the church office so that the Nominations Team and I can get you connected to the right opportunities for service.

May our hearts be filled with thanksgiving each day, especially as we enter into this new month; and I pray that you will have many opportunities to connect safely and with much care and love with others during this season. This is a wonderful time of year, even in the midst of Covid, to remember how blessed we are and how the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference in the life of another.

God bless you and have a wonderful November!
