Our Beliefs
United Methodists are a diverse Christian people, who affirm one eternal God made known through three forms: Father, Son and Spirit; also known as our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer. We believe that God is sovereign, and the Creator of all the universe. We believe that God is loving, and both knows and cares for all the peoples of this world.
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of God, and the Savior of the world. Through Jesus’ suffering and death upon the Cross we witness God’s grace poured out for the world, atonement for sin, and reconciliation between humanity and God. On the third day Jesus rose to new and eternal life, a sure and certain sign of God’s victory over sin and death. Jesus offers to share that victory with all who trust in Him, and abide in God’s love. Because of Jesus God’s grace is present for all people.
We believe in being one congregation, acknowledging the diverse opinions and beliefs regarding LGBTQ+ issues that exist within our congregation. We believe that God created human beings in God’s image and that all people are of sacred worth. We believe in, and are committed to, loving all people as a core value of our faith, with loving God with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength as our chief core value and commitment.
We believe that the Christian Church is the body of Christ, and an extension of Jesus’ ministry in the world. We believe the mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word, and our primary authority for faith and practice. We believe that along with Scripture God reveals God’s ways through Christian tradition, personal experience, and human reason.
