From the Pastor’s Pen & Heart
To My New Cornerstone Family,
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ!
It is so good to be able to greet you in His precious name!
It is July 1st and the first official day of my being with you as your new Pastor. I just want to publicly thank Pastor Ashley again for doing such a wonderful job as the Congregation’s Interim Pastor and her husband for his worship leading ministry. I really enjoyed worshipping with the both of them, and you, when we came to visit in May.
As we begin our time together, I just want to say that I am really looking forward to meeting everyone. I know that it will be a little strange to meet and build relationships while navigating Church reopening, but I know that we can, and hopefully have a lot of fun while we are doing it. For those who like to email, you can think of me as a pen pal and write to me. Contact the church office to get Pastor Comer’s email address. For those who like Zoom (or at least are willing to use it as a tool during this time) we can meet and talk over Zoom. For those who are willing to meet in person using social distancing and masks, we can do that outside or inside, as appropriate and people are comfortable; and for those who like to talk by phone we can make that happen too. Contact the church office for Pastor Comer’s phone number.
My hope and prayer for these first few months is to focus on meeting as many of you as I can and beginning to grow our relationship as Christian friends and as Pastor and People. I am asking that you would help me to do this by reaching out to me to say hello and introduce yourselves. If you would be willing, I would appreciate it if you would set up a time when I can meet with you individually and as small groups of people from the church for a “meet and greet.” You can also respond to invitations to “meet the Pastor” that will be publicized, and certainly we can begin our journey as a community by you coming out for Sunday morning worship.
My family and I are very excited about moving to Covington and being able to find our spiritual home with you. I look forward to our first Sunday together and pray that you will all join me in trusting God that our best is yet to come. One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a bright hope and a future.” I hold this in my heart as I come to you as God’s promise for us all.
God bless you, I’m praying for you, and we’ll see you soon!
Because of His Grace,
Pastor Cecilia L. Comer
